NGS History

The National Glaucoma Society was started in 2004 to provide high-quality glaucoma education to optometrists around the country.

NGS Policy on CE

The National Glaucoma Symposium is a continuing education event designed for scientific and educational purposes only. The National Glaucoma Society is responsible for all decisions regarding the identification of education needs and objectives as well as the selection and presentation of program content, educational methods and evaluation of the program.

Michigan CE Regulations

All attendees must reply to random questions by the host during the webinar to confirm their continued presence during the lecture. Participants must remain on the webinar for at least 55 minutes in order to receive CE credit in Michigan.

WEBINARS SUBMITTED TO MINNESOTA AND VERMONT

The NGS continues to monitor changes in State Regulations that allow continuing education through live webinar formats. As a result, we have applied to two more states for approval of the NGS live webinars. In Minnesota, new regulations went into effect July 11, 2018 which acknowledge interactive courses can be live or remote via a webinar, teleconferencing or videoconferencing; the NGS has applied to the Minnesota Board for approval of the October webinars.  Vermont regulations permit continuing education programs conducted on-line; the NGS has applied to the Vermont Board for approval of the October - December webinars.

Webinars approved in Connecticut

The NGS live webinars are now approved as online CE in CT.

EVENING WEBINARS

Starting in January 2018, the NGS webinars will take place in the evening from 8-9 pm Eastern time.

EVENING WEBINARS IN 2018

The evening webinars seem to be more convenient than the morning webinars for optometrists' work and family schedules, since more optometrists attend the NGS evening webinars than the morning ones. To accommodate this preference, the NGS live webinars in January - May 2018 will all be evening webinars from 8-9 p.m. Eastern time.  We will re-evaluate this change prior to the fall 2018 webinars.

WEBINARS ON NOV 15 AND DEC 6 SWITCHING PLACES

Due to a scheduling conflict, Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Thimons are switching places on the fall webinar schedule.  Dr. Thimons will now present the evening webinar on November 15 and Dr. Schmidt will present the morning webinar on December 6.  Original lecture topics remain the same.
